OSR/ICOS observation site in Auradé, Gers (wheat crop, 2014). This agricultural parcel follows a wheat/sunflower/wheat/rapeseed crop rotation, and is highly equipped for the monitoring of more than 150 variables such as weather, radiation, relative humidity and soil temperature profiles, vegetation biomass, flows of CO2, H20, N20, energy, etc.
OSR/ICOS observation site in Auradé, Gers (sunflower crop, 2016). Coupling a Gill HS50 three-dimensional sonic anemometer and a LI-7200 fast infrared analyzer, the turbulent fluctuation technique allows the continuous monitoring of CO2 (semi-hourly time step), H20 and energy fluxes on a scale of several hundred sq. meters.
OSR/ICOS observation site in Lamasquère, Haute-Garonne (maize crop, 2017). This agricultural parcel follows a wheat/maize/wheat/maize crop rotation, and is highly equipped for the monitoring of more than 150 variables such as weather, radiation, relative humidity and soil temperature profiles, vegetation biomass, flows of CO2, H20, N20, energy, etc.
OSR/ICOS observation site in Lamasquère, Haute-Garonne. Sensors installed at a height of 5 meters enable the measurement of solar radiation incident and reflected by the canopy in short (visible and near infrared) and long (thermal infrared) wavelengths. The ratio between incident and surface-reflected short-wave radiation allows to calculate the plot’s albedo. The mathematical difference between incident and reflected radiation (short and long) equals the net radiation, which is the energy available for: heating the air and the soil, evaporating and transpiring (for plants) water on the surface and perform photosynthesis.
OSR/ICOS observation site in Auradé, Gers (wheat crop, 2014). An infrared analyzer connected to a 6-chamber set is used to measure the N20 and CO2 flows emanating from the soil. The chambers automatically close every 6 hours for 17.5 minutes. This enclosed system configuration allows the measurement of accumulated gases in chambers in case of emission. Fitting an exponential model on these data allows flow calculations.
